All the Hemispheres by Hafiz

“All the Hemispheres” is a beautiful poem which questions live and our existence in the universe. Hafiz tells us that we should be free and explore the unknown, because the hemisphere does not have limitations.  And we us humans are part of the hemisphere because we live on earn which just a planed in the hemisphere.  He asks us to stretch our senses and discover live.  We the people are in the middle of this hemisphere which surrounds us. We should change the rooms in our minds for a day which means that we should think out of the box and not always think in the same patterns. Loves is described as a fundamental element of existence and we cannot live without it and thanks to this love which we have, all the hemisphere lies in our hearts.
“All the hemispheres in heaven
Are sitting around a fire
Chatting”
In these lines the Hafiz describes how the planets rotate around the sun which is a fire and all the planets go around it in the hemisphere.  And all those planets are part of the universe in which we live in. I personally like this poem a lot because it makes us think about the whole concept of live and the universe which surrounds us and yet it is so unknown to us humans. Since the existence of mankind, we try to find out what is out there in the sphere and if other live besides us exists. The hemisphere is a mystery for us which we have not explored yet and that makes it so interesting for us.

Trans- Siberian Prose and Little Jeanne from France

 Part II

For most of people it is impossible to describe how they feel in special moments in their lives when they see a beautiful landscape or old cultural monuments which are astonishing.  He remembers the kind of music his mother used to play for him, like Beethoven sonates, and he again remembers his childhood, and he says that “I made all the trains run the course of my life”. “Blaise, are we very far fron Montmartre?” keeps little Jeanne asking him during the whole time, just like when we were children  and kept our parents asking when we would arrive because we could not wait till we arrived where we were  supposed to be, as a matter  of the  our excitement the ways seemed to me so long. During this journey he also meets new people with different cultures on the train.  And again Jeanne asks him, when they would arrive, which really annoys him.  Cendrars, says to her come lets go to Mexico, you my little ugly and grotesquely odd, “Oh Come!” His illusion of traveling distances, such as the clock going back and forward in time, like when we wake up and the clock turns back when we sleep. Here we can see how complex life actually is, and the author talks much more than just a journey, because life sometimes can be like getting off on a train, traveling to different places, meeting people with diverse backgrounds, gain new knowledge and life experience. We as humans, before we had all these technology of information, we used to keep diaries, simply because we like to remember ourselves how we felt in special moments.  Now, we have the internet and we use this social websites to write our thoughts, emotions, put pictures on it, to keep in touch with our friends, all other the world without limitations.  The author talks also about the Russian flag, during the communism time, where there was war and a lot of people died, and I think he uses the colors red and yellow to describe his feelings during the war.   He  tells us that he was drunk for more than 500 kilometers, which is a long time, and that the only thing he could see was his piano, and he wished he could sleep because that is the time you let your mind wander during a trip and you thing about the events you have been experiencing. The author begins to realize how much he actually misses Paris and how a part of us is always left behind when we leave from our birthplace and this feeling of emptiness brings us always back home.

The Stranger

 Second part

The next day after the funeral, he wakes up in the morning and nothing changes, to him it is a usual day, he goes to the beach, where he meets this beautiful girl from his work. He has a good time with her, and they go out for a date, but as they go out he wears this suit with a band on his arm and she asks him about his mother’s death and just simply says to her she died yesterday. The girl was first a bit surprised about his reaction, but she did not care either and they continued. They slept together, and the next day she is gone, they do not have an intimate relationship, it is emotionless. When he wakes up, he is focused a lot on the external world, and watches what the people are doing outside. On Monday, he goes back at work, and when his boss asked him about her ages he does not really know how old she was, which again shows us that he did not spend his time with her.  The people around him did not care about him either, like his boss, or his colleagues, which shows us how much people are disconnected with one another, in our days.  He does not have anyone on his side, to share this experience which he is being in. He decides to have lunch with a friend from his work and after that he gets back to his normal life. I can say that I have sometimes situations where I feel like a stranger in my environment, because it is hard to create a closed connection with someone, or they just remain someone you go out with, and you never see this person again.  When he talks to his neighbor, and his neighbor tells him how bad he treated his girlfriend, he still just keeps eating lunch without any emotional reaction.  Meursault, during the whole story is an outsider, who cannot create a connection with anyone he meets.  People, just come and go in his life but nobody stays and does not really care about this lonely life.  I think that the reality we live in today is similar to this story, because people are psychological detached from their environment and they do not even realize that till it might be too late.

The Stranger Part II

Part 3
Meursault and Ramon find out that the Arabian had followed them, and they get into a fight with him. Meursault takes a walk on the beach and finds the Arabian on the beach and because the sun light attaching him like a  knife, he decides to shoot him. He shoots at him four times and then he thinks” it was four times knocking  at the door of my unhappiness”.  He gets into jail  for what he had done, but for the first time during the whole story, he feels like he is part of something. Now so many people were interested in him which never happened before in his life and that makes him feel comfortable.  And we can see that even an outsider wants to be part of a group and not all the time to be alone, but Meursault finds out that it is not what it seems.  During the court, he realizes that they use all the information they have about his life against him, the death of his mother and how indifferent he was about it.  Even thought his layer tries to protect him as good as he can , still the other layer was better in showing the fact in such a way that he really looks bad in front of the jury.  But still he does not say anything to protect himself, he is quite and does not want even to say a final word in the court.  As he gets judged for being guilty of murdering, he knows that there is no time left from him and soon he will die. In order not to get crazy about the fact that he will die, he tries to convince himself that it is not such a big deal to die because everyone will die later or sooner. But we can see that he would like to live longer than just that, he just tries to prepare himself mentally of his death. We do not know the end if he dies or not,  but I think that if he would get a second chance for life he might make things different in live, like we all would do as humans.

Love Story Part II

Oliver does not have such a good relationship with his father, it is colder, he does not even call him dad or father but he calls him sir, which is very formal. Jennifer has a good relationship with her father; she even calls him by his name Phil. They both give up from their dreams just to be together, Oliver does not follow his father’s footsteps and Jennifer does not study music in Paris.  They both got married and had a good life; they have enough earnings to life on their own. Everything was perfect, but then Jennifer gets diagnosed with cancer and she does not has long to live. All they have fought for now is irrelevant because Jennifer will die, they are emotionally down.  He tells her father that she will die and they spend a lot of time visiting her in the hospital. Oliver did not had that much money for her treatment but he asked his father and he gave the money. After a while Jennifer dies in Oliver’s arms, and his father finds out about her illness but it is too late. He calls him because he wants to help but Oliver tells him that she is dead. His father says “sorry” to him but Oliver had learned something from Jennifer that “Love means not ever having to say you’re sorry”.  For the first time in his life Oliver cried in front of his father because he was sad that he lost the love of his life. This is a sad tragedy, where they fall in love and at the end one of them dies. This teaches us a lesson that we should stand for the once we love and appreciate them as long as we have them before it is too late.

Love Story – The Movie

I really liked love story to read but the film did not meet my expectations. The actors were interpreted differently than in the book.  For example, Jennifer was more serious and Oliver was the funny one in the movie. Also I think in the movie the director did not pay that much attention to details as it is in the book. We do not even now that the characters think and why they do certain things.  In the movie we are not able to see their emotions or thoughts, whereas in the book everything what they think and do is written, so we know their personalities. A would say that the characters in the movie had some differences from the characters in the book, Oliver’s father was always described as a person with a competitive soul who likes races and driving fast, but in the movie this is not really represented. I would say that the father in the movie did not even appear as harsh as the one in book, the movie made Oliver look much more arrogant. The love story was much more touching while reading it and the movie did not convey many emotions to me. Knowing that the movie was filmed in the 1970 I can say that it was still good enough to keep my attention.

If It Is Not Too Dark by Hafiz

Hafiz was a religious person who came from Pakistan, his poem “If It Is Not Too Dark” shows us his love for god and live. He tells us that we should not be afraid to go out and explore things rather than just sitting and doing nothing. But we also should not go out if it is too dark because from the religious view darkness represents the evil.  We should be friendly not only to the people we know but also to” a safe- looking stranger “and say something kind.  This kind of interpretation we can find in religious books and people from Hafiz’s place learn his poems by heart because they believe in it. Hafiz wants us also to be friendly to the once we love and treat them as good as the first day we met them.  There are also lines where he says:  “ Let's stop reading about God -We will never understand Him” which is a bit contradictory to his believes but yet true because one can believe in god and still not understand him.  Hafiz has a unique way of writing, which is interesting and keeps a person’s interest to lead his poems.  I think that this poem reminds us of what is important in live and that we should always be welcoming to explore new things in live and to meet new people and make them into friends.  I like the last line s “That your heart can no longer live without real love!” which sound very beautiful and I think that we as humans are very sociable, we need to be under people, to love and being loved.
